FOUNDER

RODRIGO GUTIERREZ

Corialent

12 years ago, Rodrigo decided that the Coca Colas of the world shouldn’t be the only ones who get to have all the fun in the advertising industry. He was sick of all the dull, corporate, navy blue and white B2B work out there. Business people are people too. Corialent specializes in B2B marketing that doesn’t suck. And they want to get the rest of the industry drinking that delicious KoolAid.

Writing Skills

Writing skills are fundamental to success in nearly every endeavor. This is an introduction to advanced writing training. This is a professional essay focused on creative writing. Each unit is designed to guide students through the entire essay-writing procedure from beginning to end by enhancing fundamental writing skills. The skills taught here include developing a clear writing style, finding meaningful information, following its structure, and completing the project.

Advanced Writing Training addresses three main areas that are related to writing: proofreading, editing, and writing. In addition to addressing these three topics we also discuss common mistakes made in each area and offer suggestions for better writing. The four sections are:

Writing Skills: Overcoming the Common Mistakes and Tips for Better Writing Grammar and spelling are addressed in this module. Writing is often considered a skill that can be improved. However, it is often easier to learn a skill than to perfect it. Mistakes and errors are never pleasant to make, but learn how to avoid them helps writers write better. Students are shown how to locate, evaluate, and correct common mistakes. The section covers different grammar rules and discusses some sample test questions that can help teachers and students to determine which rules need to be modified.

English Grammar and Spelling: Learning and using proper grammar rules is crucial to writing. Students learn how to capitalize letters, properly spell words, and create clear sentences with proper grammar and spelling. Students are also shown how to insert punctuation marks and highlight specific words as well as other punctuation marks commonly used in writing. Students also receive a brief introduction to sentence types, tense, and tenses.

Editing and rewriting: Writing involves the use of many words, phrases, and sentences. Learning how to effectively edit and rewrite takes practice and students are encouraged to develop their own style. The advanced writing skills workshop includes writing essays, storyboards, and business documents. The focus of this workshop is to improve sentence structure, sub-clarity, and coherence.

Copywriting: Knowledge of copywriting is essential to effective communication. Students learn how to write persuasive ads and sales letters that bring prospects into a business. Students are also exposed to the most popular forms of copywriting such as storyboarding, content, copyediting, persuasive writing, and headline writing. Students have the opportunity to take a visual dictionary tour to learn the difference between headings and bullets. Students gain valuable copywriting experience by closely analyzing copywriting examples in a visual dictionary.

Advanced Writing Skills: Students learn to improve their sentence structure and coherence by taking an intensive writing skills workshop. This workshop covers nearly every aspect of sentence construction from subject, object, action, and verb to tense and mood. Students are trained to think critically about the structure of sentences. This workshop helps students develop an awareness of sentence mood and how to write better copy that leaves readers satisfied and ready for more.

The Writing Center was designed to help writers become better writers. Writing Center faculty members seek to make the process of learning to write better writing simpler, enjoyable, and useful.
